Sorry guys, this is a bit of old news because I’ve been busy. In the June 2010 issue of Playboy magazine, you’ll find a 3D poster for the cover centerfold Hope Dworaczyk with a special surprise on the back: a 3D poster for the TV show True Blood (think Twilight, except no one is a virgin). You can find the poster on Playboy’s website, but click the image above for a higher resolution version.
Unfortunately, both the centerfold Hope Dworaczyk and the True Blood poster are in 3D anaglyph format which completely screws up an image’s color. Playboy is about pictures of naked women and red/cyan tinted flesh is never natural, even if it is in 3D. The True Blood poster looks to be a conversion job because the 3D effect is very “cardboard-cutout”. Inside the issue, there’s only one 3D picture of the centerfold, and looks like a conversion job too, with the parallax not even aligned properly (sorry guys, but we can’t post the picture here for copyright reasons, even if journalistic intentions are valid).
The 3D Playboy is obviously is gimmick, which is fine, but Playboy should have provided more value to its readers given the amount of hype over the issue. There should have been more than 2 3D photos, not the mention the parallax problem. If you missed the issue, you can check out the rest of the magazine here.
