This is a bit unrelated to 3D, but maybe jailbreaking iphones will help you impress hot

Here is my ultra-easy, all-in-one guide to jailbreaking your iOS and most importantly what to do afterwards because I remember the first time I jailbroke my iphone 3G, there were a million guides on how to do it, and the process was just as easy, but none of those guides told you how to do all the cool stuff everyone jailbroken their iphones in the first place, namely unlock their phone and install applications. Now that a jailbreak for the iphone4 is finally available, here’s a step-by-step how-to.

This guide applies to iPod 3G/4G iPhone 3GS/4 & iPad devices and technically AppleTV 2. Most importantly, people like me who got iPhone 4’s with 4.0.2 or 4.1 installed.

Jailbreaking the iPhone 4

“jailbreaking” is not cellular carrier-unlocking, but freeing the iPhone from normal software restrictions so that you can unlock the phone for your cellular service, install non-Apple-sanctioned apps that add cool functionality, adult-themes, and more.

1. Connect your iphone to your computer via your normal USB-to-iphone cable. Make sure iTunes is not started and iTunes does not automatically start up when your iphone is connected to your computer

2. go to www.limera1n.com and download the application. It’s perfectly safe. Notice the “1″ instead of the “i” so it’s not “limerain”

3. run the application. you should see this.

4.click it and follow the rest of the instructions on screen. it should look similar to this:

5. Once your iPhone has rebooted, you may see a new icon that’s blank or white with the name, “limera1n”. If you see nothing that says “limera1n”, you’ve done something wrong and repeat the steps above. Once you get the icon. touch it and it’ll open up the limera1n app. install the cydia package:

6. Cydia install may not have taken. reboot the iPhone by turning it off and on and try installing cydia from the limera1n package again, rebooting, until you see the app icon appear like this:

Congratulations, you’ve jailbroken your iPhone. Now comes the fun part.

How To Install Jailbroken Applications

WARNING: Piracy is illegal. While most applications are relatively cheap and affordable on iTunes, many don’t provide trial versions and costs can add up. Use this method to try-before-you-buy, but please purchase the applications and support the developer. Most games cost only $0.99 so it’s worth it.

1. Open Cydia.

2. Go to “manage” -> “sources” -> “edit” -> “add” -> http://cydia.hackulo.us -> “done”

3. now you have a new source called hackulous. Go to hackulous and install “appsync x.x” with “x.x” corresponding to the version of your iPhone OS. So if you have 4.1, you grab appsync 4.1. Appsync allows you to drag and drop downloaded applications (like the ones you get off websites, bittorrent, usenet) into iTunes and install them onto your phone.

4. Also grab “installous”. Installous is an alternative to installing applications via drag-and-drop into iTunes where everything is done on the phone. It’s basically the iTunes app store except all the applications are full versions and free to install.

How To Carrier Unlock Your iPhone

NOTE: there are reports this method may or may not work. I haven’t had time to test it, but it’s supposed to work. This article will be edited as future methods for carrier unlock appears. This is current as of October 10, 2010

1. open Cydia.

2. go to “search” and type in “ultrasn”. You’ll find something called, “ultrasn0w” (notice the ZERO instead of the letter “o”). install it. This is the program that unlocks your iPhone to use with any cellular service (that supports one of the iPhone’s GSM bands or 3G bands).

3. reboot your phone.

Final Tips:

I recommend rebooting the phone (turning it off, and then on) everyone once in a while and after a few of the important steps, but they should work regardless.
